Luchesk Half Marathon — Website for a half marathon in Lutsk
Website for a half marathon in Lutsk
The website of the city's main race: a countdown to the start, a route map and a schedule that's easy to open on your phone right at the start line.
(Challenge)
Dmytruk Luchesk Half Marathon is an annual half marathon in Lutsk supported by the city council. It needed a website that motivates people to take part, quickly answers a runner's key questions — when, where, which distance, how to register — and becomes an archive of previous races.
(Solution)
We built the website around race day. The first screen shows a live countdown timer and the start date and location. Next comes a dark city map with the routes of three distances, each in its own colour. The schedule is split by day, from bib pick-up to the awards ceremony, and the registration and rules buttons are always close by. The Gallery section collects race photos by year. A dark palette with turquoise and yellow accents continues the identity of the event and its title partner.

A countdown that motivates
The timer on the first screen is the shortest call to action: it reminds you how much time is left and leads to registration. The date, time and start point are right next to it, so nobody has to search the page for them.

Race archive
The gallery is organised by year: 2018, 2017, 2016. Participants come back to find themselves in the photos, and newcomers see the scale of the event and the atmosphere of a city celebration.

Mobile first
Most runners open the website on their phones to check the start time, find their distance or the bib pick-up point. So the mobile version is complete: map, schedule, registration and contacts in a single column, without tiny elements.

25 days, 5 hours, 42 minutes to the start. The website has to run alongside the runners.
